About Webcams

Purpose
These webcams are hosted by different departments and assembled here for marketing and entertainment purposes. If you have a question or comment feel free to contact us.

How Its Done
Our Debian server grabs an image from each camera every 30 or 60 seconds for display here. Images are saved for mpg time lapse movies which are built every night with mpeg_encode.

Playing Time Lapse Movies
The time lapse movies are all in mpg format and are playable using Windows Media Player, Quicktime, and most other video players. If you notice a cool daily time lapse movie, let us know and we will add it to our archives.

Hardware
All the cameras are Axis network cameras. The outdoor cameras are mounted in enclosures from Pelco.

New Goss Stadium baseball field camera installed.

The Parker Plaza camera was moved to view the new Gill Annex construction.

2007/01/26
Memorial Union and Reser webcams have been upgraded and most other webcams were cleaned.

The webcam pages have been updated to a new fresher look. Enjoy!!

2006/07/26
There are 4 new SCF webcams combined into one image. The images are reduced and combined so people are not individually identifiable while still showing a live view of the labs.
