About Webcam Site

Purpose:
These webcams are hosted by OSU departments and assembled here for marketing and entertainment purposes. If you have a question or comment feel free to contact us.

How Its Done:
Our Debian server grabs an image from each camera every 30 or 60 seconds for display here. Images are saved for mpg time lapse movies which are built every night with mpeg_encode.

Playing Time Lapse Movies:
The time lapse movies are all in mpg format and are playable using Windows Media Player, Quicktime, and most other video players. If you notice a cool daily time lapse movie, let us know and we will add it to our archives.

Hardware:
All the cameras are Axis network cameras. The outdoor cameras are mounted in enclosures from Pelco.
